Ah must be the 90's or in my case, the early 2000's when it showed on Adult Swim, one of the first times I saw anime in a really dark serious tone...and experienced people who thought they were deep because they watched it when years later you find out they were blowing out the butt....I met some very 'fun' elitists back in the early days of anime.
